What forms of abstraction/non-representation are newly possible with ML?

How can we engage AI in creative processes beyond semanticity and quantification?

This project uses abstract painting’s capacity to play between the nameable and the strange to investigate what might lie in the spaces between what we can specify to AI with text and the kinds of images we want to produce. It is a prototype meant to explore how one might interact with the latent space of AI algorithms beyond semantic representations — how human-nonhuman collaborative paintings might provoke images that surprise.
